I Love My Kids. I Just Wish They Had an Off Switch.

I Love My Kids. I Just Wish They Had an Off Switch.

I love my kids. I really do.

But sometimes, I honestly wonder if they come with an off switch.

Every morning, I wake up hoping for a slow, peaceful start to the day.

You know, coffee. Breakfast. Maybe five minutes to stare out the window and remember who I am.

My kids, on the other hand, wake up like they've been launched out of a cannon.

By 7:00 a.m., they're running.

By 9:00 a.m., they're climbing.

By lunchtime, I'm already wondering how they still have energy.

And somehow, by 8:30 p.m., when I am completely out of battery, one of them will look at me with those big innocent eyes and ask:

"Mom, what are we doing now?"

Now?

NOW?!

I'm trying to make it through the day!

I Tried Everything

At first, I thought I just needed to keep them busy.

Easy, right?

So I bought toys.

They played with the boxes.

I got coloring books.

They colored for about six minutes and then somehow turned the kitchen table into an art project.

I suggested going outside.

They went outside.

Five minutes later:

"Mooooom!"

Apparently, the backyard was suddenly the most boring place on Earth.

Then came the indoor games.

Then the crafts.

Then the "Why don't you guys just sit down for a little while?" conversation.

That one went particularly well.

Spoiler: They did not sit down.

At this point, I had to accept something.

My kids weren't going to magically run out of energy.

If anything, they seemed to be producing more.

I was starting to suspect they had discovered a secret energy source somewhere in the house.

Then I Had an Idea

One afternoon, after watching my kids run laps around the house for what felt like the 400th time, I had a thought:

Maybe they don't need less energy.

Maybe they just need somewhere to put it.

That's when I started looking at trampolines.

I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting a miracle.

I wasn't thinking:

"This trampoline is going to completely change our lives."

No.

My expectations were much lower.

I was thinking:

"Maybe this will buy me 10 minutes."

Ten beautiful minutes.

That was the dream.

And Then We Got a Trampoline

The first time my kids saw the trampoline in the backyard, they froze.

For approximately two seconds.

Then:

"IS THAT OURS?!"

And suddenly they were outside.

Jumping.

Laughing.

Jumping some more.

Doing things I didn't even know their little legs could do.

Meanwhile, I was standing there with my coffee time:

Wait... is this actually working?

They kept jumping.

And jumping.

And jumping.

I finished my coffee.

Still jumping.

I checked my phone.

Still jumping.

I sat down.

STILL JUMPING.

At this point, I wasn't even asking for ten minutes anymore.

I had entered a new era.

Do They Still Have Endless Energy?

Absolutely.

Let's not get carried away.

The trampoline did not turn my children into peaceful little angels who sit quietly and read books all afternoon.

They still run through the house.

They still ask for snacks approximately every 14 minutes.

They still somehow manage to make an incredible amount of noise with absolutely nothing.

And bedtime?

We're still working on that one.

But now, when they have all that extra energy, they have somewhere to take it.

They can jump.

They can play.

They can challenge each other to see who can jump the highest.

They can make up their own ridiculous games.

And I can sit down for a minute without immediately hearing:

"MOM!"

Honestly?

That's a win in my book.

Maybe I Didn't Need Quieter Kids

Maybe I just needed a better place for all that energy to go.

And that's what I like most about having a trampoline in the backyard.

It's not about making my kids sit still.

Good luck with that.

It's about giving them a place to be kids.

A place to run, jump, laugh, and burn off some of that seemingly endless energy.

And yes, maybe it gives Mom a little breathing room as well.

So, do my kids still have unlimited energy?

Yep.

Did I finally find somewhere to send it?

Also yep.

Would I recommend it to another mom who has a child who appears to be powered by an unlimited supply of batteries?

Absolutely.

Just don't expect them to stop asking for snacks.

I've learned that some problems are bigger than a trampoline.

So, Which Trampoline Is Right for Your Family?

If you're now thinking, “Okay, maybe my kids need one of these…” — I get it.

But before you pick a trampoline, think about who's going to be jumping on it.

Have Multiple Kids or Teens?

If you have several kids, older children, or teenagers who all want a turn, bigger is definitely better.

We recommend a 14ft or 15ft trampoline for families with multiple children or older kids. There's more room to jump, play, and move around without everyone fighting over the same three feet of space.

Because let's be honest — “Take turns!” only works for about 30 seconds.

Have Younger Kids?

For families with younger children, an 8ft–12ft trampoline can be a great fit.

It's a little more compact while still giving kids plenty of room to jump, play, and burn off some of that never-ending energy.

And honestly, when you're dealing with little kids, you probably don't need a giant trampoline.

They'll find a way to use every inch of it anyway.
